There’s always a time in a person’s life when random events shape up a very good evening. The night of December 4, 2009, was that night. Spirits were up between Olivia and I after a good night of worship at a local church (Church of the Way). When we arrived downtown, I decided to let go of some things that I thought would be misplaced if I had a couple of Newcastles in me – you need to know this bit for the story. While walking, we both decided to get some pizza before heading to the Griffin – which I think has gone downhill over the past months.

The cold air of the night made us both groan, and as we passed a taco shop, we opted for Mexican food rather than Italian. The taco shop was filled with Christmas decor as well as giving it their own Spanish spin. I will not bore you with the details of what we ordered, but it is presumable that I will be back to this place to eat.

After paying, we left the taco shop, into the freezing cold and made our way to the warm furnace of Griffin. As we walked there, Fancy called and said she was here. We looked across and see a girl in faded white boots, jeans, shirt and a smile, skipping along the Fremont Street

The Griffin was warm and full of people smoking, drinking and having meaningful conversations. Conversations like, “Do you think this dress makes me look fat?” or “I work in retail. You do to? Great. We both work in retail…” Conversations like these are definitely the start of a beautiful friendship. It is a bar that you can have meaningful, yet, shallow conversation in the hopes that you can cross the threshold from naive and simplistic to meaningful and esoteric. The talk of religion, philosophy, politics, or ones doxology is short lived in a place like this.

In everything I just said, the aim of the story is not the bar, but the homeless person that we met outside the Griffin. After deciding that the bar was far to crowded and loud to talk, we went outside. Fancy made a phone call, and Lyv and I stood near the curb. A homeless guy approached Lyv and I to ask for food. Testing him, I said, “I can buy you food, but I don’t have any money to give you.” The homeless guy nodded and said, “Sure, there is a restaurant inside the El Cortez.” The El Cortez is a casino near Fremont Street were everyone goes to get free parking. As we walked towards the El Cortez, I found out that David was from California, his mom and brother are living in Las Vegas, but he can’t stay with them because of some complication that he did not want to get into with me.

We finally get seated and I just asked, “How is your faith?” At this point he begins to tell me that he is Christian – I had my doubts – and that he loves to read the old testaments of the bible. After a while, the check came and I gave my bank card to Olivia to pay for the bill. Unknowingly a person seating next to us was overhearing our conversation and decided to use his points that he won gambling to pay for the meal – what a blessing. The man was military and must have known we had no money. I continue to talk with David about God, and Jesus, and towards the end of the conversation we prayed.

After a long ordeal with Vanessa and Haley trying to make us stay at the Griffin, “It’s only twelve o’ clock, that is early, your staying,” Haley yells, we finally sneak out and walk back to the parking garage. When we arrived at my car, the keys to my car where inside the car. I was locked out. This is when I remembered myself taking several items out from pocket because I was afraid to loose them in the Griffin. After giving a sigh, I called the American Automobile Association (AAA) to help me with my car problem. A truck came in less than 30 minutes, opened my car and left. I dropped Olivia off at her house and we were both pretty tired and glad that the night was over.

Oh woe are the people that live humble lives but live like wolves. Feel pity for those people who willingly destroy their own lives for a moment of ecstasy. Oh my God, I would only pray to know You more. I would boldly pray to be in YOUR presence everyday. Your word has revealed to me things that my understanding cannot begin to imagine or much less fathom. Why do people persist in their self piety, goodness, and denial? when in the end, everything is meaningless to the person that have understood the truth; yet, everything is meaningful to the person who have experienced YOUR love. Can one argue about truth? that truth is merely an understanding of one’s self experiences? Can truth be tested? Can it be challenged? I would argue that truth can be challenged, if truth is false. But if truth is tested with the law of perfection, then truth can be absolute. A reformed thief has lost their testimony to someone who is thinking of thievery, a reformed arsonist has lost their testimony to someone who loves to set things on fire. But a person who has been redeemed, justified by love, experienced their sin through the sacrifice of Christ can be revealed truthful. Their testimony that once gave them guilt will now help them shine light on the sin that someone else may cause. Essentially providing them with relational-experiential-parallelism. That parallelism provides a door to who YOU are. So may the knowledgeable give up their “testable” truth for absolution. When we experience You, nothing matters but the new world that awaits. Your love is everlasting, amazing in its own greatness. Change is broken and life is revealed.

I pray that we decide and rejoice to wait upon you God. I pray that we give our own understanding to categorize love and choose agape.

that was really good man. I read in Ephesians 4: (And He Himself gave some [to be] apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head–Christ-) I write this passage, because it is a passage I have been studying for the past week. This verse caries various meanings to the prestige and provision Christ is expecting from believers, but the one things I want you to take note of is when Paul says, “…fullness of Christ…” Fullness in the Greek/Hebrew translation is plērōma, which means fullness in the literal. It is a command and promise God has given us. Paul prays that we should all be equipped, have unity in faith, knowledge of the Son of God (or as we coin – Christ like), and to be full of Christ in stature and measure. In the NT, the body of believers, fullness is as that which is filled with the presence, power, agency, riches of God and of Christ. It is a big ask to completely be filled with Christ. Our simple prayers do not even mirror what Paul prays for. We pray for our problems of sin (i.e. sexual immorality, drunkenness, piety, etc.) and yet neglect to pray to be CHRIST LIKE, to be full in the SPIRIT everyday of our lives. Spurgeon states in one of his sermons about “Christ glorified” states, “In heaven they sing, ‘The Lord be exalted; let his name be magnified forever.’ and the earth singeth the same: ‘Great art thou in thy works, O Lord! and unto thee be glory.’ It would seem, therefore, a strange anomaly if the church, the temple of the living God, should be void of son, and we bless God that such an anomaly doth not exist, for ‘day and night they praise God in his temple.’ And while it is true the ceaseless circles of the starry heavens are praising him without cessation, it is also true that the starts of earth, the churches of the Lord Jesus Christ, are each of them everymore singing their hymns of praise to him. Spurgeon also says that the singing of the saints echos in the mountain tops with solemn harmony, which flows to creation (or the heavens). And so should our hearts be this way everyday. We should be renewed everyday, we should remain in constant fire, to pray with boldness. It may be that we have weak prayers because we do not fully understand the LOVE GOD truly has for us. If we could understand the love God has for us, then perhaps we could pray for something worth praying for and befitting of heirs. keep in touch brother.

I am currently attending a non-conventional church. A church consisted of members that have no credential – and if they did possess credentials, the basis of this church doesn’t function through diplomas and scholastic achievements. The people that I have had the pleasure of knowing are closely becoming my close friends over the coming months. As I observed their habits, disagreements, likes and dislikes, I have come to know that within the context of friendship there exist a growing bond between everyone.

I would like to discuss the idea that in a romantic relationship between man and women the “best” friend of the relationship must suffer and relinquish more of themselves but remain in contact to continue to be the best friend. Most people would shrug this notion because most friends do not have to suffer for their friend who suffers in their relationship, but I have witnessed people who have cried because their friends are suffering. This feeling has nothing to do with romanticism between best friends but has to do with actual “agape” love for a brother or a sister. There is nothing worse to know when your friend changes who they are for their relationship so that they can be better compatible. In this compatibility, the best friend is usually left to his/ her own life. In my personal experience, there must have been so many friends I do not commune with because I possess a relationship with someone.

NOTE: I am not trying to bash relationships. I firmly believe in relationships and their functions and for the person that can accept the responsibility of “love” should definitely pursue it. I am merely stating a fact that friends with relationships tend to stray away from their non romantic friends.

So there exist two alternatives for a “best” friend to continue in a relationship with someone with a romantic relationship. The first is to continue with the suffering or joy for your friend that has found love in his/ her life. Second is to move on and continue to find other friends. The benefit of singleness is being able to find many friends.

Happy Hunting =)

For the most part of my life I have lived in a perpetual nuance of thought. This thought have become more apparent over the years. The thought that I belong in a tier of a family scope that plague American society. Finding family and attempting to understand the functionality of family has allowed me to grow and unravel some mysteries that I may deal with when I have a family of my own. I have found that in every family – although different – contain basic ideas on how family work together for the good of each other.

If you look at family as an entity of itself, then you may see that each family grows in certain ways. I will break down some ideas on how families work. Please note that I am merely speculating and this blog is merely opinion. Also note, that there are no bad families, there are only families that fail when they choose to move up or down on the tier of families and find that it may be difficult to do so.

The Non Existent Family: This family type are the type of group members that live separate and different lives from each other. They mirror their lives with today’s current economy – fast paced. Money and success may be a factor that play a part in the non-existent role that each member plays with each other. They may not understand, care, or know what is going on with the members of the family, but are on their way to financial success.

The Awkward Family: This family type are similar to the Non-Existent Family, with one difference. That difference is that each members of the family are trying to know, understand, and feel for one another’s emotions. They are making attempts to get to know one another, while attempting to obtain their own busy lives and successes. A problem they may face could be the degree of interaction they have with one another. The degree of growth with another is dependent on the amount they place with their success. Their stories are only shared in passing or when one attempts to find out.

The Average Family: Mostly all Americanized families have fallen into this tier. This is where members of the family share their stories on moments where everyone is at the dinner table. Although this type of family doesn’t achieve financial success, this type does well in their relationships. Financial success may not be as important than simplicity and living well enough to survive.

The Well-To-Do Family: The families that are not rich but can still afford to buy a nice house and fancy car are the well to do families. This type of family can afford not to work as much because members of the household make enough monetary earnings to live a life where members of the family can focus on relationships with each other. This family may not always work because money becomes a major problem with relationships. Members may prioritize their relationships around materialism.

The Nouveau Family: This type of family have been popping up with the fall of 2008 American economy. Since people have started to educated themselves about environmental safety, keeping the air clean, emission safe automobiles, and the “Green” movement, families that live carefree, grow plants, eat healthy organic food families have been able to sprout around everywhere. Although this type of family have already existed before the realization of the Green movement, more have sprouted when this movement have become commercial around America. This family lives within their means to survive. Simplicity is the main issue the families like these have thrived and lived. Its not about becoming successful but its about surviving.

Again, there are no bad, worst or terrible families. Because each one of these families can fail, but the ones that survive will be dependent on the members of the family playing their role in the tier of families given.

There are times when a man has to take matters in his own hands, hold his own future, and make his own destiny. There are times when a man believes what he is doing is right for himself and will not consider the effects of his actions. To quote a movie, “When you take matters in your own hands their are always collateral damage.” I think in every action, decision or situation, we as individuals choose the responsible. We are for the mature, the wise and the compassionate, the understanding, etc. We are never for the ignorant, the immature, the boy, the wife-beater, the raper, etc. For the most part, human socialistic adulthood happens at the age of 20 and above; but in certain situations, adulthood fades and disintegrates when faced with human emotions and feelings. Pride, sloth, laziness are prime examples of potential lack of maturity. It can be argued that these things are sometimes okay. In certain situations it may be good to have pride. Pride for your team, when your watching a futball match, pride for your son or daughter when they won their first spelling B. These are good prime examples, but when pride is taken overboard, you can have major accidents.

Here is the story:

Last night, my girlfriend and I went downtown to the Griffin – waiting for some friends – after awhile, the Griff. filled up with people. We decided to go home and just call it a night – downtown was packed with people. Entering the freeway, I was stopped in a red-left turn light, once the light turned green, a car from behind immediately began to honk his car, signaling me to go. As I was traveling in the freeway, the same man attempted to cut me off, and sped in front of me – he was clearly drunk. My pride got the better of me and I tailed him until we arrived at our exit. Long-story short, I want to apologize to this person.

“I am sorry that I lost control of myself, I am sorry that as a society we strive for advancement but devolve when situations like this occurs. I also apologize because we were the car that called you in to metro as a drunk driver.” I really hope he get caught, but I sometimes don’t have hope for the police department here (thats another blog).

In closing, as a society, we strive for advancement. We want bigger buildings, better technology, etc. We are a society that “symbolically” reaches for the heavens; yet, our thinking is still primitive, we still strive for the cave man mentality. We are irate about simple things, we kill for no reason, we cheat because it feels good, and we absolutely bow down to no one. HOORAY for life, HOORAY for the living, HOORAY….

My girlfriend and I went to a pub called the Griffin tonight. This pub had a Harry Potter theme, it was dark and musty. There where caverns, fire places and various rooms. In the middle of the night, my girlfriend and I where tipsy from the alcohol consumption. Deciding it was time to leave, I made my way to the pub to close-out my credit card. After a couple of minutes waiting, I finally eyed one of the bartenders. She asked, “What can I do for you?” To which I replied, “I just need to close out my card.” Once I payed the ridiculous amount for two cheeky beers, I made my way back to where my girlfriend was sitting. To my surprise, I notice a man (nay! a BOY!) sitting with my girlfriend having a chat. From eye level the man was five foot seven, blonde hair, jeans and a blue shirt. I sat next to my girlfriend and once this motion was accomplished, he bid fair-well to her and that was that.

Here is my complaint, this man was obviously not a gentlemen, he was merely a boy in the standards that I have been raised with. He did not acknowledge my presence stating his intentions with my girlfriend to be more than just talking. My logic being is that if he was there to have a conversation, he would have continued with the conversation regardless if I was sitting next to her or not – to which I would hope he would eventually introduce himself to me or her. He stopped halfway through the conversation once I had arrived. Am I wrong to think this way? Should I have not gave this “animal” a red flag with my girlfriend? What are your thoughts?

If you want to talk to a girl with friends – regardless if he or she is taken – make sure to always acknowledge everyone around her. This will make you look respectable and not a DOUSCH!! Although my girlfriend only met him once, he will forever be a villain for eternity. He will be suspect to every novel, tale, and poem I ever write.

Questions, comments, concerns.

HYPOTHETICAL BACKGROUND NOTES: One day, my girlfriend and I were walking at the mall and a girl, dressed in club-wear passed by with her friends. Inundated with thoughts of clothes to buy from Urban Outfitters, my girlfriend asked me, “What do you think of that girl?” Referring to the way she looked, I simply replied she’s cute. She then proceeded to ask the dreadful comparison question, “Who is cuter, me or her?” I saved myself that night because I actually believed my girl was cuter – and they can tell if your lying boys so never answer unless you know you can back up your statements. But if my comparison question had changed that night, and I said the opposite, I would have lost a billion points, be placed in the bad books for a month, and I would get drama from her the whole night – potentially destroying my time at the mall.

So today I write this: The Understanding of Points Between Man and Women

Everyone knows that in a relationship, the guy can never get a break. Do not misunderstand me, I am a major fan of women’s rights, I definitely make it a point never to talk against women who are being oppressed physically, mentally, and socially. And the absolute rule that I have engraved into my head is to never talk against women pregnancy – because it is a beautiful-painful-ordeal between the child and her mother.

But today, I would like to talk about the point system. The unspoken point system that women and their significant other have established for themselves to be the law of who is leading as the hero in the relationship. For every good deed a man can gain cookie points, brownie points, etc. These points can then be cashed in on a later date by the man through dinners, hanging out with his friends, man-movies (which to most men include action, horror or satirical films). But beware, because for every good point a man achieve with your lady friend, he will be deducted ten times that much points if he screws up – this is how the point system works. Men knows this rule and continuously walk on thin ice. I am not a girl so I could not be trusted with what goes through a women’s mind – but what goes through a man’s mind is definite. So for the guys here are some violations that you should never establish for yourself to gain an extra point, because when your girl finds out that you have cheated to gain the point, you will loose ten times as much.

Cheating Through Lying

Understand, that liars never prosper. If you lie to get a measly tally on your cool meter, you have cheated the system and it is just a matter of time. Do not lie to your girl. It is always safe to be honest and true with everything you do with her. If she asks you, “Who is better looking?” you better believe it is her; and if you don’t, there is no point being with her. I think physical attraction is as important to mental attraction. You cannot simply be attracted to a girl’s IQ, and continue on in a relationship without physical attraction.

Cheating by Indian Giving

No offense to my fellow indians, but there is an American saying that if you take something back, you are an indian giver. If you desire the maximum amount of points, never take back what you say. If you said something, grow a pair of melons and own up to what you have stated. If you said she was a little chubby in the past, it is okay to re-affirm her that she is still beautiful. Who ever said fat women where undesirable is blind – to each is his own. There is definitely someone for everyone, and cheating by indian giving is not a gentlemen thing to do. If you are not physically attracted with a fat women (or skinny women) then there is no point of continuing your lie – reference to the first rule above.

Cheating Through Loyalties

Time and time again, I have been dinged for doing this!! Be aware that when you get into a relationship, it is NOT ABOUT YOU ANYMORE!!! You do not exist. In this world, the term “WE” is the dominant word. With that said, in a relationship, the only people group that reins dominance is your God (or whatever god you follow via religion), and your family. Unfortunately the guys takes the back end when in a relationship. There is no such thing as hanging out with the guys after work, if you and your girlfriend have plans to watch Mathew McConaughey’s, How to Loose a Guy In Ten Days. There is a way to remedy this situation, if you have accidently planned two events at one night, you can gamble on your girlfriends patience to let you hang with the boys and not take away points, or you can gamble with the boys to understand – be aware that unless you are a homosexual, the point system doesn’t work for guy on guy.

I would like to discuss the rules and/or laws about drinking drinks. Whose drink should we swig from? Is it safe? Who can we trust? I propose this question with the thought that one of my friends is now in the hospital because of an incident involving him drinking another persons drink. Keep in mind that I wasn’t at this function, so I really do not know what kind of drink it was, or if the unknown substance was laced with Ebola.

First of all, the proper and safe thing to do, is to never drink from an untrusted source. And reasoning that you have met them already – and have deemed them to be a top bloke – doesn’t negate from the fact that they may have an unworthy mouth – with germs and/or feces. Pre-cautions must be taken place before ever drinking from a source. You must first have a comprehension of their history, who they are and what do they do. Then you must share some form of event that enables you to bond – you will understand this moment of bonding when at that precise moment you think, “Hm, I should add him on top 20s on Myspace,” but don’t actually do so. This minor occurrences will give you a gauge on how risky or safe his/her mouth may be – because after all, drinking someone’s drink is like kissing them as well. Your drinking backwash or saliva alongside with the liquid substance in the glass. Another point to consider is the glass, is it safe? is is clean or dirty? where did you pick it up from? Questions like these should also gauge if the glass is safe to drink from or if it has the plague and your screwed.

The next level of drinking, is taking a swig from a person you trust. You can never guarantee complete safety if your drinking another persons drink, but just like sharing your soda with eight members of your family in the movie theater, you have the potential of possibly not getting anything- its a gamble. I vote that the rule for sharing drinks is for every one cup, you can only drink from two trusted sources (one being a family member or the one cup, two member rule doesn’t apply). That means, two people and yourself can drink off of one cup only if one of them is a family member. If one of them is not a family member then its only one cup for every one person.

Another rule to consider is the quality of the cup. DIXIE reds are usually good quality alcoholic drink cups and are the regulated size for maximum beer pong fun – for all you party goers out there. Wine glasses usually would constitute wine to be poured for consumption and normal glasses are usually miscellaneous, which are adequate for every other drink. So if you are in a party and see a wine glass with beer in it, it could be safe to consider that it may not be as trustworthy to drink from. What if there are no more glasses, and the wine glass is left? then the sharing rule should always be the guidelines if anyone is unsure of what to drink.

Overall, my friend just posted a bulletin – like he normally does – and rather than comment, I thought I would blog about it. I think this is a topic that grips the nations concerns and must be heard for the people.

America, the land of the free, the home of the “Teller-Offers.” Today was the premier for the Will Ferrell movie, Land of the Lost and before the movie could even begin, I noticed that Americans love to tell people off. There was an old lady in the premier who screamed obscenities at a man – who works for the press -because of some altercation in line, outside the cinema. The lady shouted F-bombs here and there while kids where present. Soon enough, the man’s manager stepped in and asked the old lady to leave the cinema to which the crowd either clapped or booed the manager. Ten minutes later, as the crowed of people started filling in the seats of the theater, a man sitting on a handicap seat was asked to move because it was for people who are disabled. This man then replies to the person asking him to move, “I don’t see you with wheel a chair?”

I thought there was a saying that, “You get wiser over the years?” Perhaps in certain uneducated societies, that reasoning doesn’t apply. I understand that sometimes people have bad days, rough days, days where you just wish you can pull the blankets over your eyes for the next 15 hours and wait till the next morning. But in bad situations like that, I would think that people would just stay home and not burden others with negativity. In bad days like that, I would hope people would at least be cordial to strangers – I guess this is not the 50s and 60s.

What happened to common decency? Is chivalry really dead? In this fast paced moving society, we can sometimes find a cold shoulder when meeting a stranger on the street, or even a seat next to you, inside a theater. The old days doesn’t exist, where every man is our brother and every stranger is protected and kept. America, land of the free, land of the Teller-Offers…..
